Women-led enterprises from Mauritius are set to explore investment and trade opportunities in Rwanda during the upcoming SheTrades Mission 2026, a three-day business collaboration programme aimed at strengthening intra-African trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The mission, scheduled for 18–20 May 2026 in Kigali, is being organized by the SheTrades Mauritius Hub, hosted by the Economic Development Board Mauritius, in partnership with the SheTrades Rwanda Hub under the Private Sector Federation.
About 18 women-led companies from Mauritius are expected to participate, representing sectors including manufacturing, ICT and digital services, healthcare, education, cosmetics, textiles, tourism, handicrafts, and agro-processing.
Organizers say the initiative is designed to accelerate market access, strengthen regional value chains, and expand commercial partnerships between women entrepreneurs in both countries.
The official opening ceremony will take place on 18 May at Park Inn by Radisson Kigali and is expected to attract senior government officials, private sector leaders, and representatives from regional trade and investment institutions.
The programme will feature business forums, B2B matchmaking sessions, exhibitions, market intelligence workshops, and site visits to selected Rwandan institutions and companies.

Speaking ahead of the event, Thérèse Sekamana said the initiative presents an important opportunity for African women entrepreneurs to strengthen regional trade ties.
“African women entrepreneurs possess immense potential to transform regional trade. This collaboration creates a valuable platform for women-led businesses from Rwanda and Mauritius to build partnerships, exchange knowledge, and access new markets under AfCFTA,” she said.
Organizers said Rwanda was selected as the host country because of its growing economy, business-friendly environment, and strong commitment to women’s economic empowerment.
The mission also seeks to deepen collaboration among African SheTrades Hubs and support the creation of a more interconnected ecosystem for women in trade across the continent.
Nirmala Jeetah said the programme aligns with Mauritius’ broader strategy of helping women entrepreneurs expand into African markets.
“This mission reflects our strong commitment to supporting Mauritian women entrepreneurs in expanding beyond traditional markets and building sustainable business relationships across Africa. Rwanda presents strategic opportunities for innovation, investment, and trade,” she noted.
