Tubafashe Academy School has officially concluded the 2025-2026 academic year with a colourful graduation ceremony for nursery pupils moving to Primary One and a celebration of achievements by learners across the school.

The event took place on 03 July 2026 at Tubafashe Academy schools located in Rwamagana District Nyakariro sector also highlighted the school’s belief that children learn best when education is combined with good mental health, emotional support, talent development and strong family involvement.
Parents, teachers and school leaders said children need more than classroom lessons to succeed. They said children should also have time to play, discover their talents and receive guidance that prepares them for everyday life.

Parents praise inclusive learning
Parents who attended the ceremony thanked the school for accepting all children, including those from vulnerable families and children with disabilities. They said the school creates an environment where every learner feels welcomed, supported and respected.

Kankindi Félicité, whose child graduated from nursery and will join Primary One next term, said she has seen a positive change in her child since joining Tubafashe Academy.
“I chose this school because of its good reputation, and I have not been disappointed. My child has learned discipline, cleanliness and respect, and has done well in class. The school also gives children opportunities to take part in sports and other activities that help them relax, improve their mental health and discover their talents. Seeing my child represent the graduating class today makes me very proud,” she said.
Another parent, Omar Ernest, said the school’s focus on every child’s overall development makes it stand out.

“The teachers care for the children like their own, and they keep parents informed about their progress. The school helps children discover their talents through sports, music, art and other activities, while also supporting children with disabilities. These activities are not a waste of time they refresh children’s minds and help them perform better in class,” he said.
Students value life lessons
Learners also said the school prepares them for more than examinations.

Primary Six student Hirwa Eric Darcy said the school teaches children how to make good decisions and avoid harmful behaviour.
“Besides our lessons, we receive guidance on how to live responsibly and avoid bad behaviour. We also play football, basketball and volleyball, bicycling which help us relax after studying. When your mind is relaxed, you understand lessons better. Even when someone fails, teachers encourage us to work harder instead of losing hope. That gives us confidence to keep trying,” he said.
‘A healthy child learns better’
School Director Dr. Chaste Uwihoreye said Tubafashe Academy believes children’s well-being should come before academic success because learning becomes easier when children are mentally and emotionally healthy.
“We call ourselves a wellbeing school because we believe a child must first have a healthy life before knowledge can fully enter. Academic lessons are important, but they are not enough. Some children come with disabilities, developmental challenges or emotional difficulties, while others carry challenges from their families or communities. Every child deserves support. That is why we provide mental health services, counselling, sports, music, art and other creative activities so that every child can discover where they belong and build confidence for the future,” he said.

Dr. Chaste said the school also works closely with parents because education is a shared responsibility.
“Parents should not think their responsibility ends after paying school fees. During the holidays, children need guidance, encouragement and support at home so they do not forget what they have learned. We also counsel parents and families because when the home is healthy, children are more likely to succeed both in school and in life. A child who is not emotionally well cannot fully benefit from education,” he said.
Looking beyond the classroom
As the 2025-2026 academic year comes to an end, Tubafashe Academy says it will continue promoting an education system that combines academic excellence with mental health, inclusion and talent development.
With nursery graduates ready to begin primary school and other learners moving to the next class, the message from the celebration was “ when schools and families work together to care for children’s minds as well as their education, every child has a better chance to succeed.”
